About Hollies Mapperley

Hollies Mapperley was opened in 2015 and rated 'Outstanding' in Behaviour and Attitudes in 2021.  Building on the success of our nurseries in Sherwood and Arnold, we set about transforming the building into a space that would provide a nurturing and welcoming environment. Hollies Mapperley has large, spacious rooms, giving plenty of opportunity for learning and creativity in a homely environment. Children are encouraged to follow their own interests and daily activities are flexible and child-led, enabling us to help them to achieve their next steps.

We know that children love to play outdoors, so we spend as much time as possible in the fresh air. Whether it’s visiting our Forest School at Hollies Wood, or simply playing in the garden, we use the motto ‘there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing”.  We have a large garden offers plenty of space, with lots of play equipment and opportunities for young explorers to use their imagination. Our Forest School sessions take place at Hollies Wood within Bestwood Country Park.  Forest Schools promotes the self-esteem, concentration and social skills of our children and enables them to take risks in a safe and controlled situation.  Our preschool love to take a trip out in the Hollies Bus, to spend time exploring the woods and learn new skills.

Our experienced nursery cook freshly prepares all of our food on-site. Menus are changed daily, with a wide range of healthy, balanced options and children are encouraged to try new things at mealtimes and make good choices.
